I turned off v-sync, but it didnt help the load times. What did work was restarting my computer before playing Pure.
After restarting the load times were much more reasonable. Still two minutes or so, but better than the 10 minutes it
was taking.  I'm no computer tech but it sounds like a memory issue with the game. My computer specs are:

3.16 procesor, 4gb ram, two 9800gtx videocards sli enabled. So not exactly a slow computer.
